Hello, Fall!
It’s Fall Y’all!
Well…according to the calendar.
Tennessee apparently didn’t get the memo.
It may still be hotter than the devil’s armpit outside, but that isn’t going to stop me from pretending the temperature has dropped and fall colors surround me.
I’m delusional enough to make fall happen whether the weather cooperates or not.
Because I LOVE fall.
There is just something about this season that makes everything feel a little cozier, a little sweeter, and a whole lot more fun.
Pumpkin Patches
One of my favorite things about fall is going to the pumpkin patch with my kids and grandbabies.
There’s just something about everyone being together, wandering around looking at pumpkins, taking pictures, eating good food, and letting the little ones experience all the fall fun.
And watching the kids get excited about something as simple as picking out a pumpkin never gets old. Honestly, I think my adult children might enjoy it more than the littles.
Pumpkin Spice…Obviously
We can’t talk about fall without talking about pumpkin spice.
It’s practically a requirement.
Pumpkin spice in my drink? Yes.
Pumpkin spice baked goods? Absolutely.
Pumpkin spice anything? I’ll probably try it at least once.
I know there are people out there who roll their eyes when pumpkin spice season arrives.
Well, you do you.
Cozy Sweaters & Warm Socks
Give me a cozy sweater and a pair of warm socks and suddenly I’m convinced I live in a Hallmark movie.
I don’t care if it’s 80 degrees outside.
I’m emotionally cold.
Pass me the sweater.
And the fuzzy socks.
Halloween
Halloween is actually my second favorite holiday, right behind Christmas.
I love the decorations, the movies, the pumpkins, the candy, the costumes, and that little bit of spooky fun that comes with the season.
And no, I don’t need anything terrifying.
Give me the fun Halloween movies, pumpkins on the porch, and a bowl of candy and I’m perfectly happy.
Decorating for Fall
I love decorating for fall.
There’s something about bringing those warm fall colors into the house that instantly changes the mood.
Pumpkins.
Leaves.
Warm colors.
Cozy blankets.
Little touches here and there.
It doesn’t have to be extravagant.
Sometimes just changing a few things around makes the whole house feel different.
And one of my favorite parts?
Going fall decorating shopping with my husband.
There is something about walking around the stores together looking at all the fall stuff that makes me ridiculously happy.
And honestly, we don’t need fancy dinners or clubs for a date night. Give us a Bath & Body Works and let us stroll around smelling every fall candle in the store, trying to guess what each scent is supposed to be. Those simple little moments together are some of my favorite dates.
Baked Goods
Fall was basically made for baking.
Warm breads.
Cookies.
Cakes.
Pies.
Anything that makes the house smell like something delicious has been happening in the kitchen.
There is just something about pulling a warm baked good out of the oven when the weather starts getting cooler.
Halloween Movies
Give me a cozy blanket, something sweet to eat, and a Halloween movie and I’m happy.
I love the fun ones.
The nostalgic ones.
The ones that make you feel like a kid again.
The kind where you can watch them with the lights on and still sleep peacefully afterward. 😂
The Leaves
This might be one of my favorite parts of fall.
The leaves changing.
That beautiful mix of red, orange, and yellow.
Watching the trees slowly transform before everything eventually falls to the ground.
And there is something about driving through the mountains when the leaves are changing that I absolutely love.
Give me a beautiful mountain road, colorful trees everywhere I look, a good coffee in my hand, and a sweet treat and I am one happy woman.
I don’t need anything fancy.
Just let me ride around and look at the leaves.
Crisp Fall Days
And then there’s the actual weather.
Or at least the weather I am pretending we’re having right now.
Because right now, Tennessee may still feel like someone left the oven on.
But in my mind?
It’s 62 degrees.
There’s a cool breeze coming through the windows.
The leaves are falling.
I’m wearing a sweater and warm socks.
Everything smells like fall.
And I’m perfectly happy.
One of my favorite things to imagine is having a picnic on one of those crisp fall days.
Just sitting outside, enjoying the cool air, watching Sophia play and laugh as she crunches through the leaves beneath her little feet.
Those are the moments I love.
Not anything extravagant.
Just being outside.
Being together.
Watching the little things become memories.
That’s what I love most about fall.
It’s not just the pumpkins or the sweaters or the pumpkin spice.
It’s the feeling.
It’s the anticipation of the holidays.
It’s the traditions.
It’s getting outside.
It’s family.
It’s slowing down enough to notice the leaves changing.
It’s finding reasons to make ordinary days feel a little more special.
So yes, Tennessee, I see that you’re still sitting at 80 degrees.
I see you.
But I’m not playing along.
Fall is here.
My sweaters are ready.
My pumpkins are ready.
My Halloween movies are ready.
And if I have to sit in the air conditioning wearing fuzzy socks while drinking something pumpkin spice and pretending it’s 62 degrees outside…
Well, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
Happy first day of fall.
What do you love most about fall? Tell me in the comments!

I love taking a drive with my wife and daughter to look at the leaves! There is a special joy in watching their faces when they are looking at all the leaves and the excitement they get! My wife is especially great at describing all of the colors and letting me know just how excited she is! I can’t see what they see in it (color blind), but they can’t see what I can (them)! Sooo next time you want to see something truly remarkable, take your loved one on a little ride and instead of looking at the scenery watch them. You can thank me later, and to my amazing wife if I haven’t told you today, I love you and I’m proud of you!
