Welcome to Home with Heather

Welcome to Home with Heather! I'm so happy you are here.  I'm  a wife, homemaker, author, and mom to five, including four grown children and a toddler who keeps me on my toes. I am also blessed with five wonderful grandchildren who bring so much joy to my life. This will be a place where I share the beauty of everyday life, creating a cozy home, simple homemaking tips, family memories, recipes, decorating ideas, and the little moments that make a house a home. Life has taken me through many seasons, from raising my older children to starting over again with a toddler in my forties. Through it all, I have learned that home is more than just four walls. It’s where love grows, memories are made, and grace is found in everyday life. I also have a passion for writing children’s books and am the author of Sophia and the Secret Garden , inspired by the magic and wonder of childhood. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find encouragement, inspiration, and a...

Choosing to Stay: A New Beginning

Image
We were ready to leave this house. Not "thinking about it" ready. Not "maybe one day" ready. Fully ready. Mentally ready. Imagining a different place, a different layout, a different life somewhere else.  But life has a way of slowing you down long enough to make you look again.  This is the house that is filled with memories of our children laughing and playing. But this time we didn't just look at the things that needed to be fixed, but the life that had already been lived here.  We finally seen not just a house, but a home. That was it, we're staying.  Not because everything is perfect. It's not. Not because it's what we planned. It isn't. But because this h...

A Letter to a Mom in Every Season of Life

Image
Dear Momma, Whether you’re rocking a newborn to sleep at 2 a.m., waving goodbye at kindergarten drop-off, navigating teenage mood swings, or learning how to love from a distance as your grown kids find their way: This one’s for you. Motherhood isn’t just one season. It’s a whole series, each with its own beauty, chaos, and heartbreak. One minute you’re singing lullabies and the next you’re texting “Let me know you got home safe," to a child you used to carry on your hip. And through every phase, we wonder: Am I doing this right? Did I say the wrong thing? Am I enough? The answer? Yes, Momma. Even when you feel like a mess. Even when you lose your temper. Even when you’re so tired you forget what day it is. You’re showing up and that matters more than anything. To the mom who’s just beginning: You’re not failing. You’re learning. You’re finding your rhythm in a role that’s as big as it is beautiful. To the mom in the thick of it: I see you. You’re multitasking meals, moods, and m...
